Where are you from, and how does that influence your work?

I was born and raised in northern Poland, and my homeland continues to shape every brushstroke. Growing up surrounded by wide open fields, dramatic skies, and a landscape that could feel both tranquil and intense gave me a deep emotional connection to nature. Even after immigrating to the United States in 1999, those memories stayed with me. My paintings often return to Polish scenery — the colors, the textures, the quiet expanses — almost as a way of keeping my roots alive. My work is a bridge between where I come from and where I am now.

Where do you find inspiration?

I find my inspiration in Polish landscapes. They bring me a sense of peace and serenity that I try to translate onto the canvas. The rolling countryside, the changing seasons, and the soft, natural palettes of my homeland remind me of who I am and where I come from. Inspiration also comes from the immigrant journey — from starting over, embracing new opportunities, and staying connected to the places and people that shaped me.

What is your favorite art medium?

Painting is my primary and favorite medium. It allows me to blend color, emotion, and memory in a way that feels both expressive and grounding. Through paint, I can revisit the landscapes of my childhood while creating something entirely new. It’s where I feel most free and most myself.

Describe how the arts are important to society.

Art is important to society because it gives us permission to be ourselves. It doesn’t have to be perfect — it just has to be you. Through art, people express emotions, share stories, celebrate culture, and connect across differences.

It can bring healing, spark conversations, and open doors to understanding. It reminds us that beauty and creativity are universal languages, capable of bringing communities together no matter their background.

¿De dónde eres y cómo influye eso en tu trabajo?

Nací y crecí en el norte de Polonia, y mi tierra natal continúa dando forma a cada pincelada.

Haber crecido rodeada de campos abiertos, cielos dramáticos y un paisaje que podía sentirse tanto tranquilo como intenso me dio una conexión profunda con la naturaleza. Incluso después de emigrar a los Estados Unidos en 1999, esos recuerdos permanecieron conmigo. Mis pinturas suelen regresar a los paisajes polacos —sus colores, sus texturas, sus espacios silenciosos— casi como una manera de mantener vivas mis raíces. Mi trabajo es un puente entre de dónde vengo y dónde estoy ahora.

¿Dónde encuentras inspiración?

Encuentro mi inspiración en los paisajes polacos. Me brindan una sensación de paz y serenidad que intento traducir al lienzo. El campo ondulante, las estaciones cambiantes y las paletas suaves y naturales de mi tierra me recuerdan quién soy y de dónde vengo. La inspiración también proviene del camino del inmigrante: comenzar de nuevo, abrazar nuevas oportunidades y mantenerme conectada con los lugares y las personas que me formaron.

¿Cuál es tu medio artístico favorito?

La pintura es mi medio principal y favorito. Me permite combinar color, emoción y memoria de una manera que se siente tanto expresiva como reconfortante. A través de la pintura, puedo revisitar los paisajes de mi infancia mientras creo algo completamente nuevo. Es donde me siento más libre y más yo misma.

Describe cómo las artes son importantes para la sociedad.

El arte es importante para la sociedad porque nos da permiso para ser nosotros mismos. No tiene que ser perfecto, solo tiene que ser auténtico. A través del arte, las personas expresan emociones, comparten historias, celebran su cultura y se conectan más allá de las diferencias. El arte puede sanar, generar conversaciones y abrir puertas al entendimiento. Nos recuerda que la belleza y la creatividad son lenguajes universales, capaces de unir a las comunidades sin importar su origen.
